World). The crown jewel of the division is Genting Highlands Resort
- Asia’s leading integrated leisure and entertainment resort.
Genting Highlands
Resort
Genting Highlands Resort,
popularly known as Genting - City of Entertainment offers
world-class leisure and entertainment attractions and is a key
tourist attraction in Malaysia.
The resort has won numerous
awards of excellence such as "Best Deluxe Family
Resort/Theme Park" and
"Outstanding Achievements in
Hotel/Resort Development", 2003-2004 (World Asia Publishing) and "Asia Pacific’s Leading Casino Resort 2001"
(World Travel Awards).
The resort's attractions
include over 50 fun rides, 150 outlets (comprising 80 dining and
70 shopping outlets) and six uniquely themed
leisure walk boulevards at First World Plaza - the highest
shopping centre in Malaysia at about 2,000 metres above sea
level, Casino de Genting - a world-class gaming
entertainment area and three mega multi-purpose venues (the 6,000-pax Genting International
Convention Centre, 6,000-pax Arena of Stars and 1,800-pax
Genting International Showroom) that provides a constant flow of
world class shows and events..
There are six hotels in Genting
Highlands Resort, i.e. Genting Hotel, Resort Hotel, Highlands
Hotel, Theme Park Hotel and First World Hotel at the hilltop and
Awana Genting Highlands Golf & Country Resort at the mid-hill
- offering 10,000 hotel rooms.
First World Plaza offers a unique blend of indoor
theme park, themed entertainment areas, enjoyable shopping and
dining experiences, world-class entertainment shows and
performances, impressive business conventions and affordable
rooms for everyone, all under one roof. First World Hotel &
Plaza was awarded the prestigious "FIABCI Award of
Distinction" 2002 for the best hotel development in

Genting Highlands Resort has the distinction of having Genting
Skyway - “the longest cable car in Southeast Asia” spanning
3.38km from the midhill at Gohtong Jaya to Highlands Hotel at
the hilltop. Genting Skyway, at maximum speed of 21.6km per
hour is also the fastest mono cable car system in the world.
Awana
Hotels and Resorts
Resorts World has further extended its resort management expertise to
include the Awana chain of resort hotels – in which Resorts
World develops, owns and manages Awana Genting Highlands Golf &
Country Resort, Awana Kijal Golf, Beach & Spa Resort, Terengganu
and Awana Porto Malai, Langkawi in Malaysia.
Awana Genting Highlands Golf &
Country Resort (“Awana Genting”) is the flagship property under
the Awana
brand. A cool hill getaway ideal for
conventions, family outings and eco-sports holiday, the resort
comprises 320 condominium-style units or condotel units, a
304-room 23-storey Awana Tower Hotel, an 18-hole championship
golf course and a host of sports and recreational facilities.
The natural surroundings and attractions of Awana Genting are
actively promoted in eco-related sports activities.
Awana Kijal Golf, Beach & Spa
Resort (“Awana Kijal”) spreads over approximately 73 hectares
and boasts a 3.5km beachfront, which is the longest beachfront
in Terengganu. All of its 368 deluxe rooms and suites have a
magnificent view of the South China Sea. Awana Kijal also offers
an 18-hole championship golf course, landscaped swimming pool
and numerous water sports, themed recreational facilities and
natural attractions indigenous to Terengganu - a state that
strikes the perfect balance between modern conveniences and
traditional hospitality.
Awana Porto Malai, Langkawi
is located on the southwestern tip of mythical Langkawi island
that is famed for her legends and duty-free status. The resort
exudes a Mediterranean ambience with panoramic views of the sea
and nearby islands. The hotel is also situated next to the
Star Cruises jetty which docks the
Star Cruises’ fleet of world class cruise
ships and is just 15-minute drive away from the local airport.
All of its rooms and suites offer a panoramic view of the sea
against a backdrop of the outlying islands that Langkawi is
famous for.

Resorts World has also invested about 36% equity stake in Star Cruises
Limited - the leading cruise line in Asia-Pacific and the
third largest cruise ship operator in the world. Operating a
fleet of 20 ships with over 29,000 lower berths,
with cruises to destinations and islands in Asia-Pacific, North
and South America, Hawaii, Caribbean, Alaska, Europe,
Mediterranean, Bermuda and the Antarctica under the Star
Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Orient Lines & Cruise Ferries
brands. Another brand NCL America has recently been launched by
Star Cruises.
Resorts World operatesAwana Timeshare ownership scheme under its
subsidiary Awana Vacation Resorts Development Bhd to complement
and provide synergy to the Group’s leisure businesses. Awana
Timeshare owners can enjoy the benefits of the Genting Group's
leisure properties (i.e. at Genting Highlands Resort, the Awana
hotel chain and Star Cruises), as well as being attached to
Resort Condominium International (RCI) exchanges that have more
than 3,800 affiliated resorts over 85 countries around the
world.
Capitalising on the
significant progress of software applications and technology,
Resorts World has implemented the Siebel Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
to enhance service delivery and brand loyalty through effective
management of customer data. One key user is the WorldCard,
the leading loyalty programme in this region that currently has
more than 1.6 million cardholders.
The WorldCard is developed by the
Genting Group and with Star Cruises as a strategic marketing and
data-sharing partner. The programme has over 260 programme
partners offering lifestyle values and benefits at more than
1,300 outlets in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong and will
continue to reach out to more cardholders.
The various leisure products and services such as Genting Highlands
Resort, Awana chain of hotel resorts, Awana Timeshare and Star Cruises, have
enabled Resorts World to be a global provider of leisure &
hospitality services and to continue playing a pivotal role in
