Climate Change, Energy and Emission Monitoring



Genting Energy recognises the urgency of climate change and the environmental impacts of energy generation. Therefore, Genting Energy is committed to progressively reducing its environmental footprint by integrating sustainability considerations into its business strategy while delivering long-term value.

As part of its energy transition, Genting Energy completed the handover of Phase 1 of the Meizhou Wan power plant to the Fujian Investment & Development Group Co., Ltd., reflecting a structured approach to managing conventional assets. In parallel, Genting Energy is expanding its renewable energy portfolio, including solar and wind, and advancing lower carbon technologies such as hydrogen co-firing to support decarbonisation and sustainable development.

Community Investment



Genting Energy anchors its community investment initiatives around four strategic focus areas: health, community development, education and environmental stewardship. Through these areas, Genting Energy supports program that contribute to community well-being, inclusive development and long-term social resilience in its areas of operation.

Genting Energy Community Investment Approach:

  • Health: By promoting active lifestyles and community engagement, Banten power plant funded several sporting and wellness events to encourage healthy living within the local community, including sponsorship of a silat martial arts competition in Banten Province, Indonesia.
  • Contributed: Contributed to the construction of culturally significant facilities, such as Islamic Center in Banten and Artara Nimu Tofoi Church building in West Papua, as well as the development of a concrete road in Jangi Village. These efforts aim to enhance the quality of life and livelihood of the surrounding communities.
  • Education: Genting Energy actively sponsors education-related awards for students ranging from primary school to university level and supports improvements in educational infrastructure via initiatives such as the Green School Program as well as the donation of digital board and school bags to the students.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Genting Energy continuous to advance environmental stewardship through conservation activities including the planting of 2,250 trees across West Papua and Banten Province, and over 4,000 mangrove trees along the coastal area in Serang District, Banten Indonesia. These initiatives reflect Genting Energy ongoing commitment to long-term environmental sustainability. Waste, Pollution and Materials Consumption



Genting Energy maintains a structured waste management program designed to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements while safeguarding human health and the environment. The program is implemented at Banten power plant and is underpinned by key performance indicators that track waste generation and drive continuous improvement in environmental performance across the operations. The Banten power plant’s robust environmental management are further demonstrated through recognition under relevant national environmental program. The plant has consistently achieved a “Blue” rating under Indonesia’s PROPER program for the seventh consecutive year, reflecting its sustained compliance with pollution control requirements and effective implementation of environmental management practices under supervision by Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

Genting Energy prioritises the identification of key waste streams to minimise waste generation and improve resource efficiency through reuse and recycling. Hazardous waste is managed in collaboration with government authorised service providers for appropriate treatment or disposal, while non hazardous waste is reused or recycled wherever practicable.
